Automatic collection of configuration data failed

Problem

When installing Lync server 2013, I receive a typical error: Automatic collection of configuration data failed

Solution

This error occur when you did not complete the Topology Builder or got a blank topology as below.

Execute these steps to resolve this issue:

  • If you already had topology builder file, Open Topology with “Topology Builder” and publish Topology. If you didn’t have and that first time that you install Lync, Create a new topology with the “Topology Builder” and publish the Topology.
  • Once the notifications have been acknowledged your topology should successfully publish.

  • You should now be able to successfully Install the Local Configuration Store as show below

    Hello Mandeep,

For this issue, you need to verify that you created Topology builder and publish it.
yes, SQL server cause same issue, if you didn’t open port 1433 for Skype Server.
Also you need to verify that you prepare DC before starting with this step.
