Lync Server 2013 front-end service stuck on Starting

Problem

Lync Server Front-end service stuck on Starting.

Solution

Step#1: Check certificates store using MMC

  • There should not be any expired certificate.
  • Internal Certificates must be matched FQDN of POOL and Front End Server. (certificate property “Subject” is the same name of FQDN of pool or FQDN of Server.)
  • check that you didn’t have any unused certificate on personal of certificate (local computer).

Step#2: If Front-end service state: Starting

  • kill RTCSRV.EXE or run  Stop-CsWindowsService
  • Run  Reset-CsPoolRegistrarState -ResetType QuorumLossRecovery
  • Start Front-end serivce or restart server.

    regards with “All certificate must be self sign”, but Technet claim public CA is supported https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398094.aspx

      Yes, you are correct. The Certificate must be requested from CA. I clarify point now that i mean Name of Certificate must be matched FQDN of Pool or FQDN of Server.
